ENTERTAINMENTS QUEEN'S THEATRE. "The- Rainbow Trail" opens to-day al. the Queen's Theatre. The story is a continuation of "Riders of the Furplo Sage," recently shown, and brings William Farnum back in the rolo of the feared range rider, Lassiter. It is a strong "Western tale, packed with love ami heart interest, and affords an mi. usual number of real thrills, and one of the best Farnum productions shown here. The scenes arc largely laid in the Grand Canyon of Arizona and from a scenic standpoint the picture probably excels anything of tho sort yet undertaken by photoplay producers. In addition an excellent supporting programme will also be shown. FAREWELL OF ALLAN WILKIE COMPANY. "Ciimille" was played for the third and last time at tho Grand Opera House by the Allan Wilkio Company last evening. This evening the company will concludo a successful season in "Wellington with a revival' of "The Silver King," with Mr. Wilkie mice more as Wilfred Deuver and Miss IV Hunter-Watts ns Nellie Denver. The fine melodrama, which has tho vitality.of fifty others, aud is a classic of its type, is sure to attract, a large audience. It is interesting to know that Mr. Wilkio is to retunVto Wellington in March next with new plays. AMATEUR COMPETITIONS. The Vernon-Spencer management, announce that their next series of competitions will bo given at the Grand Opera House on Saturday next. The previous competitions were very successful, both from tlie competitors' and also the audiences' point of view. An excellent allround programme is announced for next Saturday, including prizes for the best child performer, vaudeville act, sentimental singer, and comic. Many entries have already been received by the management, and intending competitors are advised to -write in immediately.
