DEATH. BY STRANGULATION. By Telegraph—Press Association.' Ashburton, December 5. The police received advieo yesterday evening that tho body of a nowly-born male infant had been found at the residence of Mr. .1. Bishop, at Tjnwald, between the copper and the wall of the wash-house. The body was removed to the morgue, where a post-mortem examination was held this morning. This afternoon an inquest was held before Mr. J. Gow. District Coroner. Dr. T. Pettey deposed that the child had been born alive, and that death was due to strangulation with a plec? of tape,'which he pro-otir-od. Sulyriuently he examined a girl named Catherine Small, who ad-■:-il's-d fh.it she was tho mother of the child. The inquest was adjourned for a week, the Coroner intubating that criminal prncnedinss would follow.
