GAMING LAW BREACHES

At the Magistrate's Court Kobert lioland Kidson and Francis William Ericksoii were charged before Mr. Barton, S.M., that being: occupiers of a grocery store they did keep and use sucli premises as a common gaming house. Kidnoil was further cliarged with frequenting Gladstone Road, a public place, for the purpose of betting. Tho charges wero laid as the Tesult of a police raid. Each accused was fined and ou tlio second charge Kidson was fined £1. Tho Magistrate said that it was stated by a detective that the Telegraph Office was used for betting transactions. This was well known, and the Government did nothing to seo that tho law was properly carried out. The position was Gilbertian.
