DAMAGES TO PROPERTY
TENANT SUED. Evidence for the plaintiff was hoard before Mr. W. G. Riddril, S.M., at tho Lower Hutt Court yesterday in the ease of Ellen Alexander v. John Baird Wilson, a claim for ,£H6 10s. 3d. for damage alleged to havo been dono to a property owned by Mrs. Alexander and occupied by defendant. Under lilie memorandum of lease defendant undertook to keep tlio place in good repair and to hand it over at tho expiration of his term in good condition. It was also provided that hedges and trees should not be cut), and certain painting should be dono at tho expense of Wilson.
Claimant: alleged that tiho plac? had boon grossly neglected, the grounds uncultivated, valuable ornamental trees cu< down, flowers and plants destroyed, and other damag? done which seriously depreciated tho valuo of the property. Several witnesses gavo evidence as to the state of tlho property prior to Wilson's occupation and siiico he left:, and the caso' was then adjourned, to be heard in Wellington on December 15.
