SCHEME FOR SUSTENANCE AND EDUCATION. (Rec. December 3, 10.15 p.tn.) Melbourne, December 3. Tho Federal Government lias approved of a schemo to provide twelve thousand soldiers' orphans with sustenance and education, involving approximately an flxponditure of sprend over 14 ;pears. This is equal to'an annual expenditure of ,£57,000, computed on the basis ofnai average cost per head of 12s. Gd. per week for two years.—Press Assn.
