THE PEACE TREATY
PRESIDENT'S MESSAGE TO CONGRESS REFERENCE TO TREATY POSTPONED By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright Washington, December 2. President Wilson delivered his Message to Congress for the opening of the new session. Ho recommended legislation to combat the cost of liviug, to deal with Labour unrest, to suppress Radicalism, and to facilitato tho readjustment of tho nation on a peace basis, and also with respect to tho railways. Tho Peace Treaty is to 'be discussed in a later Message, and no reference to it is made in the present one.
President Wilson recommended a Budgot system for national finance, much on the lines of tho British system, and a readjustment of tariffs, to make them conform with tho fact that tho United States is no\v the greatest capitalist nation in tho world. Tho President denounced profiteers and Radical agitators, and said they were keeping the country unsettled. The only way to cure real grievances was to remove them.
Most of the members of the American peace contingent have left Paris for tho United States, and the others have been recalled. The reason is unknown.—Aus.N.Z. Cable Assn. Paris, December 2. THE HUNGARIAN TREATY. Paris, December 2. The Supreme Council has decided that provisions respecting Fiume shall bo excluded from the Hungarian Pence Treaty, so as to enable Italy to sign it.—Aus.N.Z. Cable Assn.
