(Rec. December 3, 5.5 p.m.) ./ London, November 29. Even the Opposition newspapers welcome Lady Astor's election on tho ground that women should be represented in the Housu of Commons. Mr. A. J. Balfour will introduce Lady Astor on Monday. She wnl take a seat reserved directly behind the front bench. The Speaker has decided she may wear a hat, a point which greatly exercised member?. Mrs. Astor says she will not appear in evening dress, but in tho simplest gown in order not to set an unfair precedent for other women, who wnuld nnssibly be obliged to rely on the I'-lfiO stipend. An oak-pannelled boudoir and writ'iig-rrain overlooking « terraco is provided for her use and is labelled "Lady members only." She also has the use of the other club-rooms provided for members, except the smoking-room.— A115.-N.Z. Cable Assn.
.At the prize-giving ceremony of the Girls' lollego, the prizes will be presented by Mrs. W. F. Massey, and a programme of musical, elocutionary, and othfcr items by the pupils has been arranged.
