FIGURES FOR THE WEEK INFLUENZA SHOWS SLIGHT INCREASE ✓ POSITION CONSIDERED SATISFACTORY For tho week ended Monday, December 1, the number of cases of infectious disease reported in tho Wellington Public Health District was 129, a decrease of six compared with the previous week. Of this number 70 were cases of influenza. During tho week ended November- 21 there were 02 influenza notifications. Only four of the influenza cases were of (lie'pneumonic 'type* tho remainder being classed as mild. Fourteen cases of pneumonia were renorted—soven less than tho total for tho previous week. The notifications of diphtheria showed a decline of ten compared with the previous week's figures. "There is nothing special that I can say about the situation," said Dr. M. H. Watt, District Health •Officer,"yesterday.
