AT MBIiBOUIiXE lfOll WELLINGTON At a meeting of the council of the Wellington Chamber of Co:tmit>rce, correspondence from the Melbourne Chamber of Commerce, ami with the Union Steam Ship Company, regarding the congestion of cargo at Melbourne.iwaitingshipmeiit for Now Zealand ports, was erusdered. It was staled that Ihe pnsit'an had been relieved in Ihe 'a.st two or three months by the Wiwtialia, which was now regularly in the service bringing cargo for Weiliiygton and southern ports. The Commonweal! h steamer Australford also was due in Well ngton to discharge cargo from Melbourne. •
Early in October tho chamber made, representations to the Union Steam Ship Company requo-'ting that one of that company's steamers be put in the service, and was informed thai Ihe Tahiti would he put oil a .special tr':p to lift airgo at '.Melbourne for Wellington. No cargo, however, was accented for shipnicnl to Wellington direct, and tho Tahiti discharged at Bind' and IJtinedin only. On further representations liring ircde, il was agreed that.
