The committee comprised Messrs, W. G. Itiddell, S.M. (chairman), W. J. Hildrcth, G. Tiller and J. Smith.
The ohairman. in commenting on the report of the police, submitted by Inspector M'llveney, 'said that it was not so favourable us that covering the preceding quarter. A number of liotels lmd boon vory well conducted, others had been well conducted, while some had not been conducted in accordance with' the requirements of the Act. These particular hotels, according to tho polico report, had lacked the required strict super* vision, but tho matter could not bo finally dealt with at a quarterly meeting. It was, however, a matter which would give the police grounds for objection at the annual meeting when the renewal of licenses would bo under consideration.
"These licensees should take warning," continued tlio chairman, "and to exorcise such supervision as would bring the conduct of those hotels up; to the standard that was expected of them. If eomo licensees could conduct their hotels very well, and others well, then surely the others could reach, the samo standard. Ido not- propose to, name tho hotels oomplained of, for the licensees whose supervision. has not • been satisfactory liave been notified."
