Sister Gerrard, who proceeded overseas, carried on her nursing duty as usual at Trentliam Camp, and her departure was a groat lose. She was the recipient of many parting gifts from (he nurses and sisters of tho Trenthnm Military Hospital, as well ns individual cifts from her nursing' associates. Sho left by the last Sydneyboat en route for Hobart, Tasmania. Lieut.-Colonel and Mrs. Barclay, who have been visiting Auckland recently, wore, welcomed by the Auckland branch of thp St. John Ambulanco Brigade, Lieut.-Colonel Barclay being deputycommiseioner for St. John Brigade. After having been warmly greeted by those present the guest of tho evening recounted some of his experiences and what ho hail seen in ambulance work during tlio four years ho was away on active service. Miss Hazel Marsh, of Perth (West Australia) is visiting her parents, Mr. and Mrs. W. P. Marsh (Napier). Mrs. .Tftmes Archer (Masterton) is visiting Wellington. Tho Von. Archdeacon Watson and Mrs. Watson are visiting Masterton.
The wedding was solemnised recently at St. Hilda's Church, Island Bay, of Miss Stella >[. Clark, second daughter of Mr. and Mrs. W. Bcntham Clark, of Island May, to Mr. Leonard Spencer Nicol, youngest son of Mrs. James Nicol, of Church Street, M.asterton. The bride, who was given away by her father, woro a powder blue georgette frock with touches of pink and gold, and hat of lose pineapple straw. Tlio bridesmaid, Miss Blanche Clark, wore a pretty frock of dead rose eolienno and georgette and hat of buff pineapple straw trimmed with roso and powder blue. Dr. Richmond Hooper, of Palmerston North, was best n«iii. The bride's mother wore a pretty frock of navy crepo do eoir trimmed with navy fringe and cream net front headed with roso and violet, and hat of lemon tiigel lined with navy georgette and trimmed with cerise and violet roses. The bridegroom's mother wore a black creno de chino frock with blank hat , and black aiid white ospreys and whito feather lion. The bride's travelling frock was a. derp Wcdgowood cloth costume trimmed with self buttons and tan and whito ribbon collar. Her email tn.scan ribbon hat was lined with blue. The. Veil. As a result of their street 6ale for tho benefit of the Karori Soldiers' aud Sailors' Memorial Cemetery, the Graves c'ommitteo of the AV.N.R. realised the gratifying sum of <£105 10s. Id. The Girls' Club stall, at Kt'lbiirn, made .till Bs. Id., including a donation of .£1 11s. 3d. from the P, and T. Girls' Patriotic Fund, per W.N.R. Girls' .Club; Sirs. Stewart's flower depots, Xl 9 2s. Gd.; Mrs. Hope, books, £5 9a.; Mrs. Findlay's flower stall, Ml 55.; Mrs. Bcthune, cukes, £8 35.; Mrs. Townsend and Mrs. Holmes, needlework, £'22. Donations amounting to ill 2s. Gd. wore handed in. making the total given above. The committee is deeply grateful to all who helped to make the effort the success it wns. During tho day a handsome watch-chain of small nuggets linked together, and a ring, were sold, the sum raised being £i for tho watch-ohain and 18s. for tho ring. The jewellery w.is handed to the fund by Her Excolleni-v the Countess of Liverpool, to whom it was given by an old resident of the West Coast, to be sold in aid of tho Lady Liverpool Fund. There being no immediate need to augment that fund. Her Excellency kept the gifts by her. and when the soldiers' graves effort camo under notice, gave it for the good of fho cause. The Feilding Women's National "Reserve sent down a case of beautiful flowers, conveniently wicked in smaller boxes, and tho Feildint; schoolciiildren also sent flowers, which gifH were greatly appreciated and admired by eager buyers. All workers for the Countess of Liverpool Fund and t'>e Citizens' Gift Fund nrn invited to the afternoon ten which is beintr given in the Concert Chamber of the Town Hall this afternoon, at halfpast three.
