The fprrelary of the social committee, Pelone (,\tr. f. Walsh), who organised the benefit for (he Kearney family, has reported that the grass receipts were .-£33 135.. expenses .£l, and-the sum handed to Mrs. Kearney X'tt 13s.
The Slate Schools in the district will "break up" on December IG, the day before polling day. The- Wesley Church anniversary services, held yesterday, were conducted bv tho Rev. C. Blair, minister of the cliurcii. The choir sang special hymns, and [Tiere were good attendances at the services. The arrangements for the Victory Bazaar, which the congregation of the Wesley Church, Fetone. have had in hand for some months past, hnye been completed, and the gathering will tnko place tliis week. Hull Valley residents will be pleased to know that Father Lane's picnic, one of the most popular events of the year, is to lie hold on Boxing Day. Members and friends of the Pelone branoli of the P.P.A. attended a special service yesterday at the Church of Christ. Sydney Street. There is every prospect of a (rood display of roses, carnations, and sweet peas bein? made at the Hutt Horticultural Society's Summer Show, which is fo be held this week. Tho gardens in the Valley are, looking their best at present.
