UNPLEASANT CONDITIONS ON SATURDAY

The rctono lIiIIb Club's fourth competition of the first series was held on Saturday, iipvor.v cold mid unpleasant weather. Trentbam was on its worst behaviour, and tho wind at time was unworkable. Four targets were used, which allowed the firing to iinish in good tune. _ Lineman Eric Ballinger, who took part in Iho last li:.-;Jey lnceiing, secured Iho honours with !)3, and wins the-spoon, liilleman D. The Suburbs Club continued their shooting at Trentliam on Saturday at ranges 51)0 «u-l KOO yards. The best score for the day was made by A. Harris, who notched a brilliant -IB at 600 yards. The (dub lias adopted the pairs system for the coaching of jnn/ir shots," a senior ; shot taking a junior. The result was a \ ivin for A. Harris and Nr.-,1, 169 points, 1 Eellinghain -and Newton 15S. Bellamore j ami Longman lot), and Smart and Brown 1 15G. The best score for the juniors was made by L. Lewis. A Cla-s.

OLD N-AYALS CLUB. The Old Navals It'ile Club opened their second series and c-haiuiiionshin matches oil-&tliir<!:iy afternoon on the Trcutliam liille liiingp. Tlie conditions were 10 shots and sigliter at 530 yards, mid 7 shots and sigliter at KM yards. The second wries comprises live' matches, any one of which may be dropped an-.t the cham]>ionsh:p Bevies comprises ten matches, one long ran;,'e and" y:;e shortmatch to Ik dropped.
