LADY ASTOR WINS A SEAT. London, November 28. The result of the by-election for tho Sutton division of Plymouth seat, made vacant by the holder (Waldorf Astor) taking his seat in the House of Lords on tho death of his father, Viscount Astor, resulted as follows:— . Lady Astor H,494 Mr.'Gay, W.T., Labour; 9,292 Mr. Foot, Liberal 4,139 —Aus.-N.Z. Cable Assn. [Lady Astor is an American by birth, nnd Hie first lady to be elected to tho House of Commons. In the previous election (1018) the Hon. Waldorf Astor polled 17,091 votes. Mr. Gay KKW votes, and Captain S. Hanson (Liberal) 3488 votes.]
A COALITION UNIONIST WIN. London, November 28. The by-election for the South Croydon seal resulted:—Sir Allan Smith (Coalition' Unionist), 11,777; Mr. JTnuMer (Liberal), 9573.-A.US.-N.Z. Cablo Assn. [The voting in the general elections in December was:—Tan Malcolm (Coalition Unionist). 17,813; H. T. Muggeridgo (Labour). 7006.] (Rec. December 1, 0.25 a.m.) London, November 20.
