CURRENCY AND FOOD PRICES. London, Novenvber 25. A White- Paper estimates the world's wheat yield for 1919 as 99.3 per cent, of tho average of the five years before the war. The sugar crop is estimated at 96.3, and the wool clip at 91.8 per cent, of tho yields of 1913. The coal output of America, Great Britain, Prance. Belgium, the Netherlands, and Germany for the first half-year of 1919 is set down at 50.6 per cent, of that of 1913. A comparison of the expansion of the volume of currency with the rise in wholesale food prices, taking 'the conditions of 1913 as a standard, and as equivalent to 100 in eacli case, shows that these liavo now expanded to the following extent :— Pood ' Currency. Mr. M'Curdy, addressing a committee of the House of Commons, said that there was a glut of frozen meat, which has boon held up in the Dominions, enabling consumer:) to now purchase at less than the Pond Ministry's cost price.
