St TeleiraDl—PreM A»«ool«tlon. Waihi, November 28. At the magistrate's Court- to-<lny, a coal denier, named C. Y. Cole, and a labourer 'in 'tlio railway yards, were charged with the theft of a quantity of coal, tlio property of the AYailii District Hospital, for which the dealer had a contract to supply. For tlio defence it was alleged thai the coal had only been temporarily diverted to permit of tlio dealer meeting household demands, and that it was his intention,to replace it when his personal supplies came forward. The Magistrnlo was not, however, satisfied with the explanation, and entered convictions in both cases, -with a line of c CIO each, with coats.
