AUCKLAND, BUTCHERS' STRIKE
SUPPLIES FOR SAMOAN GARRISON SHIPPED. ' By TelecriiDh-j-Press Association.. ■ Auckland, November 28. A settlement of tho. difficulty tfith tho wharf labourers, with regard to their refusal to handle: tinned meat and- other butchers' supplies for tho Islands was arrived at to-day, ns far as tho requirements of- the garrison at Samoa were concerned. The negotiations were carried on durins the morning by the Conciliation Commissioner, aod the president of the Auckland Chamber of Commerce with representatives of the Transport Workers Advisory Board. Eventually it was agreed on tho part of the Butchers', Drivers', aud Waterside Workers' Unions that the quantity of tinned meats, canned soup, and bacon necessary'for the Christmas supplies of tho garrison should, be shipped on the; steamer Talune. the goods were in duo course placed on board. Supplies of meat for private traders and' settlers and tins of preserved meat were, however, left om the wharf There was no c change in tho position m regard to tho merit shops in ' '• A meeting of,tho Butchers Union is to be held to-morrow to consider the situation as the result of the failure of the conference with tlid employers on Thursday afternoon.
