The total amount advanced in loans up to October 31 was £W,i\S 1&. 5d.. of which .£7875 had" been" advanced free of interest. In the matter o£ loans to enable returned men to start in business, 67 applications had been granted for amounts totalling .£13,823, only six applications having been .declined. Eighty-nine mon had been assisted with loans to purchase furniture, Hip amount lent being JUU)I Bs. 6(1. The total amount of grants not repayable was .£GO2 18s. 3d., made up as follows:—Subsidised wages, i 276 ss. Gd.; tuition fees, £W) 165.; sustenance, =£125 16s. j transportation for invalids,
