HATAITAI COUETS OPENED.. On Saturday afternoon the Hataitai tonnis courts wera opened' bv the president of the. club (Mr. 11. W. Tolan). The courts ar? situated in the 'Hataitai school grounds,., commanding a picturesciup view of the Strait, surrounding suburbs, and hills. Tlic president, in dechirinc tho courts open, remarked that the membership list was filled, and there were about thirty further applications. This indicated the necessity , for more courts, and he urgent the commit tec to at once co-operate with the school committee and the Electors' Association in securing playgrounds for both children and adults. He regretted that not a single section in Haiaitai had been reserved for this purposo, but it was possible that an extra court might be mnde in the school grounds. Experts, he said, hud declared that the Hataitai courts would rank amongst the best- in Wellington. and he felt sure the tennis players of tho new: club.would give visiting clubs a good game, and a hearty welcome. He,mentioned the good,work, performed bv .'-Messrs.' Grant, Savage,. /Watkins. and Johnstone. Several goon' games were clayed, .nnd. afternoon tea was handed round!. The Hataitai colours, maroon and gold, hnve been adopted by tlm club,
