FISHING PARTY MISSING
TRAGEDY FEARED. The failure of a fishing; party which left Happy Valley oil Sunday in u launch for Hio lied Rocks to return has been rpjxH'tscl to the police, and fears are entertained for its safety.
From the particulars available it appears that Messrs. S. Mason, J. Wells (both of Lynll Bay), M. Cording (of Bicoklyn, owner of the launch), and George W. Kepple (of the Public Works Department) were camping at Happy Valley, and on Sunday morning left on a lulling expedition to the Red Rocks. They were expected to return on Sunday evenin;,', 'but failed to put in an appearance. Some fishermen reported seeing n launch leaving tho Red Rocks at -t.30 p.m., but nothing further has so far teen reported of tliom.
It was thought that the launch might have experienced engine trouble and drifted to Terawhiti with the tide, or might have gone round to Titahi Bay. All shipping has been warned, and a sharp look-out is beiiw maintained from the sienal stations 11= veil as by tho authorities at. Terawhiti.
The .Tanio Seddon went out to look for the missing launch, but returned without any news of the party. A launch which went out from Terawhiti also made a fruitless search.
