Owing to. the backward season a lot of the cuttle were rough iu coat, and low in condition. There, was a very rfood attendance, buyers' being present Irom several' outside- districts. Messrs. Dalgety and Company, Ltd., report having held their annual spring cattle fair at Pahiatua on Thursday, when they offered a very largo yarding of cattle to a good attendance of buyers. Although tho cattle market is in a dopresed state at present vendors met the market, and a large proportion of the yarding changed hiimla at prices whiqh must be considered satisfactory. Following are tho prices realised:—Poor-conditioned two-year tteers, i£S 15b. to £7; two-year P.A. steers, £9 16s. to £9 17s. 6d.; four-year bollocks, SM It's.; empty cows, £7 65.; mixed-eex yearlings, £4 2s. 6d., £4 95., to £5 Iβ. At the weekly sale at Carterton. on Friday a total clearance was effected at the following: prices:-Three-yenr steers, £12 75.; two-year do., £7 to £7 65.; two-3'ear heifers, £7 to £7 18s.; yearling steers, £o 175.; dairy heifers, £6 103. to £7 55.; empty heifers, £5 to £7; cows and calves, £7 55.; fat and forward cows, £10 17s.
