WOMAN BATTERED TO DEATH. (Rec. November 2!, 9.25 p.m.) Sydney, November 21. A. mysterious tragedy occurred at Oobseo. John Meagher, a man of independent means, formerly a racehorse owner, of Melbourne, states that he left his wife in bed at 1 o'clock yesterday. Tie returned at i o'clock and found his wife in bed with her head battered. Though the 'woman had a quantity of jewellery it was not touched, and (here is no apparent motive for the crime.
