HANAWATU Dr. Godfrey, of Palnierston North, presided over a very interesting discussion of the Luncheon Club, the subject being: ".Esperanto: A World Language," introduced in an able speech by Mr. liod. lioss. As a result, it was decided to form a study class, and a committee was appointed to make arrangements. A sale of work, tho proceeds from which will bo devoted to helping the work of. foreign missions, was held in All Saints' Schoolroom, Palmerston North, on Wednesday and Thursday, and excellent business was done. Various competitions and games were among the atl Tactions. At the Wanganui Konnel Club's Showheld at- Wanganui on Wednesday and Thursday, l'almerston North breeders were, particularly successful. In smoothcoated terriers, Air. J. Prentice secured first in colonial-bred, limit, and open classes, while he also won all the classes in which he had entered the well-known bitch Maidstone Peace Girl, viz., puppy, junior, colonial-bred and open. He also ! secured iirst in tho broad bitch class; terrier team, first and terrier brace, second. He also won the puppy class and was second in snorting team. In black cocker spaniels Mr. W. 11. Andrews secured first in brood bitch, and second in limit and New Zealand-bred classes. In coloured cocker spaniels Mr. C. Aitchison followed up his Christchurch nnd Manawatu successes with Papanui- Swell, securing first colonial-bred, first stud doe, first open, and snecial for best O.T.Ti. cocker. With Gjlford Barney lie mwiirad n second-in junior and second in limit. These do?s were successful : n the coclier spaniel brace class. Mr. W. P.'Henderson obtained first ill nunny and junior classe= vitb. Moprnki Bobby. In black dogs Mrs. Hng?itt secured five firsts with Dandy Dick. Mr. F. B. Jiyan was most successful with Pomeranians.
