TO IMPROVE AUSTRALIAN RACING
A.J.C. PROPOSAL. • (Rec. November 20, 5.5 p.m.) Sydney, Novombor 20 Tho Australian Jockey Club lias submitted a scheme to tho Government for the improvement and curtailment of racing. Tho club proposes to acquire Moorefield and Warwick Fnrm racecourses and reduce tho fixtures to prevent clashing, thereby largely • increasing the pnzo i money, attracting the best'horses, r.nd r< -~ moving tho menace to legitimate sport nlhich the present unlimited fixtures ■ threatens. Tho clubs concerned have mutually agreed to acccpt reduction b) oighteen pony, meetings, fourteen metropolitan (rots, and eighty provincial meetings. This leaves sixty-two regislom horse meetings, fifty-four _ unregistered pony, and twenty-six trotting nice tangs in tilic metropolitan area, besides about fifty provincial meetings.
