RAILWAYMEN'S WAGES
ILL-ROUND increase for second DIVISION DEMANDED. • By Telegraph—Press Association. Napier, November 20. At the monthly meeting of tho local blanch of tho Amalgamated Socicty of Railway Servants, which was. held 011 Wednesday evening, when there was a very large attendance, the following Tesolution was passed"That the Napier branch of tho A.S.R.S. earnestly requests our executive to ask the Prime Minister to explain the reason why tho Reform Government voted tho, largo sum of 1340,000 of public money as a bonus to butter-producers, when members of tho second division find it very hard indeed to exist at the present rate of wages. We urgently demand that the executive immediately interview tho Minister of Railways for a definite statement regard, ing increases to the second division, and urgently demand at least 2s. Gd. per day increase all round; also that the scale of increases to the police force was granted without liaving to bo placed before a committee, and why different treatment is meted out to two branches of Government servant?."
