FOll ASSAULT!NO SCHOOL . TEACIIEK. At the Pctone Court yesterday morning, charges against Jire. Alice Ann Jones of assaulting .Mrs, Norah Cooper, a teacher at the Petone West School, and creating a disturbance before the scholars, came before Mr. E. l'ago, S.M.. Mr. Ilislop appeared on belialf of Mrs. Cooper ami the Education Department. Mrs. Norah Cooper told His Worsh'p Hint' on the morning of October 31 Mrs. Jones came to the . school find asked to eoo her little girl. Witness went,to the door and defendant used abusive language to her, followed her into the class room, and assaulted her. Another teacher interfered ' The assistant master was sent for, and Mrs. Jones was removed from the school. Ill's. Jones (interjecting) sard she asked to fee the teacher, 'but was treated with contempt, lost her temper, and pushed the teacher. She did not strike her. Mrs. Cooper (continuing) said defendant used insulting language, and the police were sent for. She had had previous visits from Mrs. Jones. Miss-Minnie Haldane said Bhe was an eye-witness of the assault. She wss standing at Iho, door of Mrs, Gosper's room, when defendant went to the <loor and asked to sec her child. She sent for Mv. J. T; 0. Stephens (uss'stanlmaster). Mr. Bedingfield (headmaster) and Mr.- Stephens bath gave ovidcnce, stating that, Mr?. .Tones had ten thero before on.similar business. Mr. Bedingtield said he had a lot of trouble with, the defendant. She had intimidated the teachers, who hid on her approach. His Worship said that this sort of conduct could not be permitted. Thorn was a correct way to deal with complaints if her child had been unfairly punished..
