PAHIATUA
Owing to his oar overturning by striking a big lump on the road, Mr. W v G. Dempsey wus seriously injured, he being pinned underneath the car. A dozen bales of crossbred wool, the first of the season, were- railed from Pahiatua last week on.account of Mr. J. P. Beech, of Konini. Mr. A. H. ■ fan-ell, an old Pahiatua 6choolboy, who now holds an important position with the Indian Government, has been spending his leave here. The salary of the Town Clerk (Mr. Miller) hue been increased by J270 a j«ar as from April last. Mr. W. JouglMn, who has 6old his business, was tno guests of friends at a smoke concert prior to leaving for Auckland. The municipal electrical scheme which started a year ago with four consumers, has increased to 88. The revenue is a< , cordingly considerably increased. In 1918 it cost £232 to run 32 gas lnmps in the streets; in 1919 it cost wEI9B to run 72 electric street lights.
