In the Concert Chamber thero were very heavy entries lor this junior championship recitation. , As thero were no fewer than fifty-seven V entries Hid section had to 1« divided \ into three. The three competitors gain--1 ins highest marks in each seci tion are- to be recalled for the purpose of awarding points in the junior championship. Following the junior reciters came a test for the lady elocutionists, who wero asked to recite "Guinevere's Uemorse," liy Tennyson. This proved 1 to be an interesting.section. THE RESULTS. Miss Mona Castles, who has a sad, sweet note, exercised it effectively in the "Song of Penitence." Miss Ida Snc'.liug saiiK "Entreat Me Not lo Leave Thee," and Miss Olga Wacked (of Christchurch), infused the proper devotional spirit into "O Divine Redeemer" and was properly ! awarded first place anion;;, the contraltos. The programme concluded with the comedieltii "By Proxy," enacted with vivacity and humour by Miss Pearl Jacobs and Miss Leah Hyman. TO-DAY'S PROGRAMME. Another attractive programme is scheduled for to-day. In the morning, in the bis; hall, there will be the piano duet and soprano (or mezzo) competitions (for which there are 10 entries), and in the afternoon English koiii; (for ladies), for which there are 32 entries, and violin solo contests. In the Concert Chamber the. second section of the men's elocutionary test will commence at 11 a.m., and the ladies' test recital (second section) will commence at 2 p.m. (22 entries). There will also b» a contest in elocution with Kinliiw'j "It" as the subject, and operatic and classic dancing sections towards the close of the afternoon.
