Houso of Commons has memorialised the Premier (Mr. Lloyd George), urging tlio organisation of an Imperial General Staff, apart from tlio War Office, with a central body in London and branches in various parts of tlio Empire. The committee points out Uiat (.ho Imperial Conference of 1907 approved of tlio principle of u central body for Imperial defence, with branches overseas. Tlio committee considers that the General Stuff should bo removed from Hie War Ofiicc in ordor to free it from administrative details; also that the central body should advise tho Imperial Council on land, sea, and air defence, and guido tho local branches on general principles, leaving to tho 'branches- the local application' of. the principles.—Aus.-N.Z.
