WAIRAEAI'A BJHOK AND TILE COMPANT. Tho annual meeting of tho Wairarapa Brick, Tile, and Drainplpo Company, Ltd., ■was held at Cartcrton on Tuesday,- Mr. J. A. Dudson presiding. The twentieth report and balance-sheet disclosed a loss of £2JJ 13s. sd. in tho year's working, the period under review having been a very trying one. Tho works woro closed for several weeks through tho epidemic, and through tho scarcity o! men tho worke had not been able to manufacture to tho beat advantage. Tho prospects for tho coining year wero stated to !io (rood, there being a good demand £or thu Roods, and a full staff of men employed. Tho Teport proposed that a euflldent sum bo transferred from the rcporvo account to Bay a dividend. o£ 5 per cent, to wipo out the loss for tho year, and allow £100 lor depreciation. In moving tho adoption of the report, the chnirmnn pointed out that tho position of tho year's operations v/aa roally hotter than tho ruport disclosed, and explained tho method of arriving at tho valuo of the stock had been more thorough on this occasion than had been tho case in prcvioue yeare, ■while the allowance for depreciation of plant and buildings had all alone been on a liberal ecnlo, really moro no than necessary. Tho report and balajicc-shcet wero adopted on tho motion of Mr. Dudson, seconded by Jfr. J. ironcricff. In reBard to a. recommendation from tho last annual meeting aa to reducing tho capital of tho company, tho chairman roportcd that tho directors had considered this procedure inadvisable. Mcaars. T. G. TJnderhill and A. JI. Krahager were re-elect ed to the directorate, and Mr. It. J. Chapman auditor. On tho motion of Mr. W. I). Allen, tho directors were aocorded a vote of thanks for their serricca during tho year.
