Coleman, wlio has made an exhaustive analysis. The cost of digging an ordinary hole in common soil luis advanced from Bd. to Is. 9d. a cubic foot, or 1(10 per cent., and painting costs are-Is. 9d. im-lcad of 3d. a square yard. Concrete for ordinary floors, which iwed to cost .'ls. a sriuarc*ard, now costs (is., and practically every form of con;rete has doubled in price, as also is the case with brickwork. The same amount of wood suitable for .lintels and door-plates, which could be taught for 2s. lid. in 191-1 is now 7s. The cheapest <niftlUy of glass has risen in ,-irice from iU\. to Is. 2d. a. fool. A rod (161 ft.) of brickwork which, used to cost JCI7 10s. is now £'M. Plumbers' ,'cad has advanced from XI 7s. to £2 Os. a ewt., a foot run of Jin. lead piping which coat Is, Id., is now 35., and 4in. cast iron ventilating pipes have gono •>p from 2s, 6d. to ss, sd. a foot,
