BOARD OF MANAGERS MEET.
Tho board of managers of tho Petone Technical School m«t last night There were present the chairman (Mr. D. M'Kenzie) and Messrs. }l V. Corner, W. C, White, M. W. Welch, D. S. Bedingfield W. B. Nicholson, and tho Director (Mr. J.'H. Lynskey). , . l „ Mr. M. W. \\ elch protested, agvinst the reduction "of the number of representatives of the Hutt County Council and other voluntary contributors on tho Correspondence was readjrom the Wellington Education Board dealing with this representation, stating that it could not bo granted to private subscribers such as the Gear Meat Company, Wellington Woollen Mills, etc.. unless they formed themselves into an association. The letter, stated that voluntary coutn"butions only amounted to three per cent, of the total, whereas tho Director (Mr. Lynskey) said that they amounted to about 10 per cent-,£105 out of X9OO received this year. Tho chairman moved that a letter bo sent to the Education Board asking what replies they had received from the contributors concerned. This was carried. The report of an inspection of tno school made by Mr.. W. Austin (Education Department Inspector) showed that satisjactory progress was being made in all classes, especially in shorthand aud woolclassing. The board congratulated Mr. Lynskey and his staff on the efficiency shown. The chairman moved that the increases due to two of the teachers. Misses Foster and Ilumhpries, be made, and it was decided to do so after tho end of the present year. " The balance at the bank was shown as os. 9d.
