SAINT ANDREW'S CHURCH

It is 75 years since the' first building erected in Wellington for regilious uor. ship was opened. The building-ifas situated on Lainbton Qunjyand was. opened by the Rev. John M'FarlMie. who arrived in l Wellington in' Pebninrv/. lftW. He was i minister of tho established Church of Scotland, and the first minister of any church to come out expressly to minister to the bottlers. For quite a period he was the only clergyman in Wellington. Thus began St. Andrew's Church, which is now on The Terrace. A social, such as would have been held in 1841, is to bo held in St. Andrew's Hall fo-night, , beginning at G. 30 o'clock, and will take the form of a commemoration service. The Rev. J. It. Mackenzie, Moderator of Presbytery, will bo present and speak.
