MR. HUGHES'S HOTEL' BESIEGED,
(Ecc November 7, midnight.) Sydney, November 7. After elaborating Iho Nationalist policy at tho Town ..Hull Mr. }X._}\, lT.uahes (Federal Primo Minister) retired' to his hotel. A crowd of ".Diggers" assembled at: the hotel, apparently with tbo object of demanding a ciish gratuity. When Mr. Hughes refused to appear the mol> attempted to burst open tho doors of tlio hotel. A melee ensued, in which the police wore'stoned. One -constable was injured «nd conveyed to hospital. The"' police then charged with batons and die persed the crowd.—Press Assn.
