Owing to tho Amorican strike coaling difficulties, tho steamers Ruahino ami Rimutaka, carrying troops and passcn-' gore to New Zealand, were diverted do Capo Town, instead of Panama. ttliips leaving New Zealand ai% similarly coaling .at Durban, whero coal costs ids. per ton, and at Capo Town, where the cost is -I7s. .Bd.'per ton, compared with; .£7 per ton at Jlonto Video, on the Capo Horn route. British steamers have been' diverted to Canadian 1 ports; owing to congestion at Now York, returning with wheat cargoes.—"Tho Times."
