I The monthly meeting of the Exeoutive | I Committee of tho AVellington branch of ' ; tho Navy League was held on Tuesday, i Present: Colonel Campbell (in the chair), Mrs. Barling, Miss Laurenson, Lieut.Colonel Roberts and Mr. B. Keesing. ' Mrs. Darling (lion, secretary of the Ladies' Auxiliary) reported that two entertainments had beeif given for tho r"U'h of fne Waipowi and Wangnrnttn, | also a tennis party by the courtesy of the Xelburn Tennis Club. - ; Mies Laurenson reported that a case of yoollen comforts had been dispatched to tho Agnes Weston Memorial. Home. It was decided that tho balauco in hand from the citizens' ball be presented to the Ladies' Auxiliary for the purpose ! of entertaining naval cadets. A hospi j tality committee had been set lip to 'ileal : with tho arrival of cadets, and tho ; Ladies' Auxiliary was extremely grate- | ful to the Ball Committee for the ■ amount. ! On behalf of the Education Committco j , Mr. Keesing reported that flags had i been presented to berhamporij and South ; j Wellington schools by Commander Wil- I liams, to Wellington College by Colonel I IG. P. C. Campbell, to the AVaitara j Public School mid to the New_Plyinouth I Girls' High School by Captain Andrews, j A lantern lecture had been given by i Mr. Darroch at the Masonic Hall, Ber- ! hiinipore, and another lantern lecture will be given in the South Wellington I School. 1 • It was reported that the Palmer prizi competition had closed with hundreds ol essays from all parts of New Zealand bj boys • and girls ranging from elevei: years to cightet-,i years. tt was dectded that Mr. Justioe Hosking, Colonel Mr. T. Shailer Weston and | M'r. r;. jveesing'be asked to act as exj aminers, | A letter from Rear-Admiral R. E. I!. ! Benson, C.8.. was vend, slating that at I the request of the Wellington branch the I Navy League at Home had made arrangements whereby Mra. Cornwall (llie mother of Jack Cornwall, V.C.) would reoeivo an nnwiaV allowance of dCC 2 10s. The committee decided that the total amount'of King George's funds in hand '«SonM ba transmitted to the authorities , at Home with a recoiumeiidirtion that a ' generous grant be made out of tho amount to Lady Dimsdale's Hostel for Sailors
