FARMERS, WAKE UP
Sir,—Hegnrding the latest phase of tho meat question it seems to mo that always ns tho season approaches someone, or somebody cries "Wolf." Now. is the time for our different farmers unions to bestir themselves, ami insist on. satisfactory arrangements being made re thecoming season's meat. It is surely preposterous to suggest that the Imperial Guvermnent means to purchase Argentine and Australian meat at a higher figure than we have received, and to leave. ours unpurchased. My opinion is that the meat should bo sold for another year at Bd. per lb. to'the Imperial authorities, but the wool commandeer should on no account 1* continued. The extra twelve months would give tho Imperial nuthon- | ties time to remove all meat in stores. So again I say let the farmers' unions speak and insist on all farmers receiving their due rights. If we don't look after ourselves wo cannot expect other people to look after our interests, and meat that is selling at 2s. 6d. per lb, it Home should bo worth Bd. per lb. to the pro-d«eer.-I am, eac, pASTOML ,
