ASSISTANCE TO MOTHERS
ENDORSED 'BY INTERNATIONAL WOMEN'S CONFERENCE. . (Rec. November 5, 9.10 p.m.) Washington, November 1. The International Conference of Working Women endorsed the principle of financial assistance to mothers to enable them to secure exemption from work for a period of six weeks 'before and after ohildbirlh.-Aus.-N.Z. Cable Assn.
The competition? season will open at the Town Hall this morning at 10 o'clock. The first item to bo taken will be the piano solo. Chopin's Nocturne in E Major, which will be followed throughout, the remainder of the day by vocal items. The elocution sect'ons will bo heard in the Concert Chamber. The official opening will take place at 8 p.m., ■when a first-cla=s programme consisting of those recalled at the day sessions", will }>? given. A comedietta will also 1» produced.
