CONCILIATION COUNCIL
DAIRY EiMJPLOYEES' DISPUTE.
A dispute .between the Wellington Dairy Employees' Industrial Union of Workers and. tho milk vendors of the City of Wellington, including the Wellington City Council Milk Depot, was heard by the Conciliation Commissioner (Mr. W. Newton) at the Conciliation Council yesterday. Tho claims of the union were made recently when a delegation waited upon the Milk Committee of the City Council in regard to tho employees at the Municipal Milk Depot.
Mr. J. B. Palmer, Town Clerk, "attended tho sitting of the Conciliation Council, and pointed out that thero had been some misunderstanding over a certain matter in connection with the dispute as it applied to the City Council. There seemed a possibility of adjusting the matter amicably between the council and the union, and in view of this he asked that in 50 far as the City Corporation was concerned the dispute be adjourned until such time, as tho Milk Committee couild meet again to discuss the position.
it was agreed to defer consideration of the corporation's position until this afternoon, sind the dispute as it related to other vendors was proceeded with. The assessors wero as follow:—For the union, Messrs. John Larwood, W. M. Atkinson, and Charles Shaw, with Mr. J. Rend, secreary of the union, as agent; for the vendors, Messrs. S. G. Coin, C. J. Duffy, and J. Harlen, with Mr. W. A. W. Grenfell as agent. The hearing will be continued to-day.
