'■ In the Supreme Court on Saturday, His Honour the Chief Justice (Sir iiobert Stout) passed sentence on lliree prisoners Mio had pleaded guilty to charges in the Lower Court. Leo Shaddick. who pleaded guilty to cliarges of theft, forgery, and uttering, was ordered to come up for sentence when called upon. Shaddick. whoa- age is 21 years, had been in trouble previously, I>ut aa his employer, who had known him for nine years, was willing ,to reemploy him, and on condition that he returned to his'.employment and eon- | tinned , to behave himself, His Honour dealt leniently with him. Mr. H. F. O'Leary appeared for the prisoner. Thomas Ridont, who pleaded guilty in the Magistrate's Court to hag-sualch-ing on Mount Victoria, was not represented by counsel, but sent in a written statement, whicli His Honour said he did not believe. liidout. in his statement, said he was under (he influence of '.iqiior when he committed the crime.
