For the month tho total itvenue collected was £132,753 Ob. 6d., as compared with £129,088 7s. 6d. for tho same month last vear. The beer duty collected last month was £2711 17s. 9d„ compared with £2414 Us. 2d. for last October.
LONDON WOOL SALES. (Rcc. October 31, 5.65 p.m.) London, October 30. There was keen competition at the wool sales for all sorts at full prices. New Zealand prices:— I Tangihau, 38Jd. The Bank of New Zealand has received the following advice from its London ofllce, under date October 28:—"The sales have opened with strong competition and a large attendance of buyers. Thero is an active demand by all branches of tho trade. Compared with the closing rates of last series prices for practically all descriptions are 5 per cent-, higher." Messrs. Levin and Co., Ltd., have received the following cablegram from London, dated Oetobqr 28:—"Ab compared nitli last sales' closing rates the present opening sales b!iow merinos unchanged, rnd crossbreds fivo per cent, dearer." Tho New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company, Ltd., have received the following cablegram from their London house, under dato October 28:—"Wool sales opened. Merino wool very 9rm; crossbred wool 5 per cent, dearer."
