The chairman,- in his opening remarks, welcomed the returned members who had been on active service, and pointed out that a creat number of members had been away, and that the roll of honour was at present being brought up to date. Ho also raid the greatest tribute to those who had fallen. The greatest difficulty the club had iu the coming season was the question of baths, as the present baths were quite out of repair and useless for competitive swimming, and this would be a great drawback to all swimmers of Wellington North and the adiacent suburbs. Tho City Council. 110 believed, had purchased a sito in Tinakori Roall for the purpose of erecting a tepid' fresh water bath, and he was disappointed with this scheme, because it did away with salt-water bathins. and in his opinion tepid fresh water wafi not as beuelicial as salt-water swimming. The Boys' Institute had a bath of this description, and it was not a suitable or 1) paying proposition, and Iho members who had competed there did not like it for competitive swimming. The club therefore must use every endeavour to influence the council to reconsider their proposed scheme, and look out for a sito suitable for an inland saltwater bath. Subsequent to the chairman's remarks n sub-committee was set up to wait upon the Baths Committee of the City Council to further the proposal lo endeavour to induce the council to reconsider thoir decision with regard to a tepid_ freshwater bath to be en-clod in Tinakori Ho,id. TIIO club generally was iu a sound nosilion, having a credit lalam-n of „Cir>. Tho club is also tho holdei of the Walker and Hall Cup. As I here were no turning boards at Thorndon now it simply meant that club races will have to be held at Te Aro. which meant much congestion.
