Kansas, on tiio completion of his divinity course at Princeton University, of which he holds the degree of B.D.
The funeral of the late 111'. Francis Allwood Oxley, which took place at Pic ton on Monday morning, was very largely attended. The late Mr. Oxley was barn in London 02 years ago, ami came to New Zealand when a boy, being educated at Nelson. On leaving school lie entered a merchant's office, and then joined the Post, and Telegraph Department, being stationed tiuccessively at Dunediii, Nelson, Wellington, on jtlio West Coast, and at Picton. While in Pit-toil lie married, and subsequently took over the Pier Hotel from Mrs. Oxley's father. He was also for some years the owner of the Terminus Hotel. Mr. Oxley tool: a full share in the business and local-governing activities of Picton during his long residence there. He was a member of the Borough Council and the Hospital Hoard for some, years, ) relinquishing the latter position only at the last election. Ho wa,s a director of Iho King Solomon Gold Mines and of the Picton Building Society. Associated with the late Mr. (I. A. Snvith, lie was a mainstay of the flowing Club at one period of its existence, and, sltlio.igli not a player, lie look an activn interest, in the <i flairs of the Bowling O'ub. For some time lie held oflice in Lodge Waitolii. No. 111. Mr. Oxley is survived by a. wMoiv and a family of four—Mr. A. 1?. Ox'ey, of the Bank of New Zealand. Wellineloii; Mr. F. T).
