At a meeting of the Management Committee of the New Zealand Cricket Council a cablegram ires read from the Australian Infantry Forces' cricket team. 6ont from Johannesburg, stating that tho team was willing to tour NeV Zealand providing no objections were raised by the Defence authorities, who had been communiented with, It was decided to send the following telegram to Sir James Allen: "The New Zealand Cricket. Conncil lias arranged a visit of the Australian soldiers' team which was so successful in England, and is now leaving South Africa, to play a series of matches in Now Zealand. They consent, provided leave can bo arranged with tha Australian Defence Office. Wjll you kindly cable to Australia, using your influence in this direction, and invito the team to New Zealand?"

At the annual meeting of tho council Mr. J. J.' Clark (Otago) presided. In moving tho adoption of the report and balance-sheet the chairman made specialreference to the necessity of' encouraging tho game among the primary schools, from which would have to come the cricketers of the future. There was likely to lx> a recrudescence of snort in the coming season, and it was the duty of every one to foster clean sport of all kinds to tho very best of their ability. In the discussion which followed, feeling reference was mnde to the loss cricket had suffered bv the demise of such players as C. M'Leod. F. Lavcr (Victoria), E. V. Salo, AV. I!. Gibbes, and E. W. M'Cormick.
