WAR FUNDS , D f; Thaokor (Christchuroli East) asked In the Houso of Representatives yesterday what, the Minister of Internal Attains intended to do with regard to war funds. Large B uni3 of monev were being held. anc,' ought to bo spent on the returned soldiers. The Minister (Hon. J. ts. Hinol said that he'could not mako a dennito statement at that stage. He could sav' that the money would bo spent tor tho purposes for which it had been raised, namely, tho care of sick and wounded soldiers. He intended to see that tho money was applied to tho oblects tor which it had been raised.
SEPARATION ALLOWANCES. Heulvina to a question in.the House of Konrescntalives yesterday, the Minister of Defence (Sir James .Allen) said that separation allowance was paid to the wife and not to the husband. The pay branch had been, right in ruling that a soldier whose wife had died miring his absence could not draw separation allowance on her behalf. He cojild apply to tho 'Financial Assistance Board if his wife's last illness had involved him in exnense. SUGAR SUPPLIES. A oueslion regarding sugar supplies was asked in the House of Representatives hv Mr. 1. A. 11, Field (N'elson). The Prime Minister said that he had instructed the Board of Trade to inouire. but he had not yet received a report. J.I: appeared that there was a shortage of sugar, and he realised that this was a matter of great importance to the fruit preservers and manufacturers of jam. Tho. matter was receiving attention.
