Messrs. Dalgety and Co. Ltd., Palmerston North, report having held, their annual spring cattlo fa.'r at Taihape on Ootober 23, wneu they submitted n| good yarding of cattlo to a- fair attcndanco of buyore. The oattle yarded wore of very ifood anility, and met with keen competition, the bulk o£ the yarding l<eing disposed of under the hummer. Quotations !-Fouryear Polled Angm bullocks, £16 95.; louryear Hereford bullocks, £15 12a. 6d.; fouryear Shorthorn bullocks, £15 Be.; three and a. half-year '1)01100119, £13 to £13 11s.; three-year bullockß, £12, £12 23. 6d., to £12 i7s. 6d.; \wo-year Herolora steers, £10 to £10 sa. (good); yearling heifers, mixed colours, £4 35.; yearling steers, mixed colours, £1 10s. to £5 55.; Btore r.owe, £6 to £7 55.; cows ivith calvea ipoor condition), £6 5b.; two-year Hereford bulls, 25 to 33 guineas; Polled Angus hulls, R7J guineas.
MASTERTON OATTLE FAIR. The Now Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Co., Ltd., report on their Haetertou cattle fair, held In the Colombo Eoad y/rds on October 28: Taking the yarding generally the standard rf well-bred cattle was well maintained. Competition was not too keen, owing, no doubt, to the backward state of cattle feed and the genera,! want of rain. We, however, managed to dieposo of the most of our entry under the hammer, only two pens Veins passed. We quote the following sales:-Three-yoar bullocks, £11 to £13; good Hereford yearling steers, £6 Is., £6 Us., £6 175., to £7 6b.; yearling Hereford heifers, £4 10s., £4 12s. 6d. to £i 13*., empty cows, .18 Ss • stig, £31.
