BOARD OF TRADE FOOTWEAR
By Telegraph—Press Ansociation. Christchurch, October 29. The Board of Trade had a conferenco with tho members of the Bood Manufacturers' Association regarding Iho board's footwear proposals. Various points arising out of tho scheme were fully discussed, and at t'.he close of tho conference several of those, present gave notice of their intention to apply immediately for licenses to manufacture. This, however, does not mean that the manufacturers will commence work on tho footwear at pneo; as they ha.v<J •.commitments in hand' which will keep them busy until the end of the year, but it is expected that early next year stocks of boota will l>6 available for -retailers,
