The two. ladies constitute what. is officially known as tho Oversea Settlement Mission to Now Zealand. Tho general functions of tho mission will be. to malco it clear that there is in the United Kingdom a considerable number of women of a very good type, especially nmong those who have been engaged with tho various war services corps and Land Army, who do6ire to avail themselves of facilities for employment and settlement in New Zealand nnd to ascertain what openings there may l>e for the employment and settlement of women upon the land, and what, if any, demand exists for women in professional, industrial, commercial, and other occupations. Tlio mission is to report particularly on the above subjects, a .distinction to bo made between land settlement proposals and as between. wage-earners on. the land and settlers who may desire'to take up land on their own account. 'JJhe reason for the inquiry is the fact that many thousands of young women proved themselves to bo efficient workers on the land during tho war .period in England, nnd are desirous of following up tlio vocations created for them liv the necessities of war. The mission will get into touch with the heads of those Government Departments which are in a position to afford them the fullest information on tho opportunities existing for the employment of women in the Dominion in any capacity; get into touch with local officials; travel tlnough the country making themselves acquainted with local condi-. fens and methods of work, ami make tho best arrangements nnssible for tho transport of women workers, should tho inducements bo sufficient to encourage the project. Tho Government will give tho ladies every facility- to visit all narts of the Dominion, and Mr. V. A. Mills, of tho Immigration Department, lias been appointed to travel with them. ,
