TERRIBLE TRAIN DISASTER
(Rec. October 28, 10.25 p.m.) Berlin, October 26. A. passenger train collided with a goods train at Kranowitz. Some carriages and wagons caught fire, while smuggled spirits in the possession of many of the passengers increased the flames. Fifty were killed and. fifty seriously injured.— Aus.-N.Z. Cable Assn. (Rec. October 23, 10.45 p.m.) Berlin. October 2G. Forty are dead ps the result of the railway, collision reported from Kranowitz, in Silesia. Harrowing accounts are given of the work of salving the charred corpses, the majority of whom were alcohol smugglers, including many women. Spirit was concealed on the bodies in specially constructed containers. Thus they were an easy prey to the flames.— "The Times."
