TUG-O'-WAR
The tug-of-war championship at tho Catholic Baaaar in the Town Hall provided another fine contest last night. The first pull of • the evoning .was between HanniSen's team (71st. 71b.) and Dalton's team t7lst.), in the light-weight division. When the-signal was given, HannifenViiide gained an inch, but by determined and sustained pulling for the next two minutes Dalton's team reduced the margin to half an inch, and greatly raised the hopes of supporters of the side. Hannifen's team, however, pulling strongly and responding to its leader, managed, amidst great excitement, to gain an inch once more. At four minutes there w«9 some very strenuous work on both sides, with l slight gains to. Hannifon's men, and'.the whistle went stowing Hannifen two inches to tho good. In tho heavy-weight contest Wade's team was nnablo to compote, and an exhibition pull was given betweon Munt, Cottrell's team and Herlihy's team, the latter winning after an exciting pull by half an inch, in seven minutes.
